Yo, I prefer the second one (Ranger); better targeting options means more real damage being done.

That said, the Avenger, though, has a higher median DPR, and there's some hidden damage you could get with MBAs (via Corellon and Power of Skill) once Warlords/ OAs come into the picture.

What Shao said. I prefer the ranger, but if you're going to play the Avenger, please take Power of Skill.

EDIT: I am, incidentally, playing an Artificer/Warlord, so get yourself a good basic attack.
